Couples Album Release With Sophomore Single, “She Only Wanted Flowers”
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 12, 2011)—Keeping the momentum of success--making his mark in the country music genre--with his initial offering, “Sweet Distraction,” singer/songwriter, Better Angels Music Recording artist David Adam Byrnes is set to introduce his sophomore single, “She Only Wanted Flowers”going for adds next week. The single release coincides with the announcement of the official release of his full-length debut, PREMIUM COUNTRY. Set to hit retail shelves and all major digital outlets on June 21, 2011, the album’s fourteen tracks (featuring ten “DAB” co-writes) are the mirror image of the young artist from Arkansas--a reflection of the good ole boy that mommas adore and the bad boy the gals will run away with.
As the flagship country artist for Better Angels Music, label head Rob Rappaport discovered Byrnes, who was performing locally in Nashville. Moved to sign the young writer because of his remarkable voice and Byrnes’ passion to revive the sound of music makers who marked pages in country music history, Rappaport also signed on to produce the project. With cuts like “Maybe She Won’t Go,” “One Too Many Times”and “More Afraid Of Living,” the album in its entirety, appropriately titled PREMIUM COUNTRY, actualizes the authentic, traditional sound David Adam Byrnes was raised on.
“I was struck by the mere sound of David’s voice,” Rappaport explains. “He has the same vocal signature as the ‘80s class of hit makers--guys like Mark Chesnutt and Tracy Lawrence; a vocal chameleon, he is hauntingly reminiscent of Keith Whitley. Add his writing chops and David Adam Byrnes is a talent the world should hear!”
“I definitely have a twang that does not lend itself to other genres!” Byrnes laughs. “Truthfully, the country lifestyle is what I know, what I was raised on and you didn’t dare touch that [country] radio dial in my house! I feel blessed to be an artist releasing an album honoring the ‘good stuff’ that I grew up on.”
David Adam Byrnes’ flirtatious first single, “Sweet Distraction,” hit country radio in late 2010 and ranked as the highest charting debut indie single of 2010 (Country Breakout Chart) and peaking on Music Row’s “Top 20.” Byrnes hopes to continue as a “charter” through 2011 with his emotional ballad, “She Only Wanted Flowers” (co-written with Jay Brunswick and Adam Fears).
Featured as Track No. 3 on Byrnes’ PREMIUM COUNTRY, the tune is available now on Play MPE with an official add date of May 16, 2011. (CDX Vol. 525 / 6/6/2011) The cut is the antonym of his first single, drawing out the pain of a relationship’s end and the powerful sting of hindsight--personified by a wailing pedal steel. Although the narrator’s love for his partner never wavered, he realizes too late what she wants and needs most is genuine love and small tokens of affection, namely flowers. “But she only wanted flowers…it’s the little things that matter…all the pretty things that money brings didn’t mean a thing…”
David Adam Byrnes returns from his radio tour in June to make special appearances at CMA Fest 2011 in Nashville.
