CD Review: "Jason Jones" Six Pack EP

CD: Jason Jones
Artist: Jason Jones
Label: Warner Bros. Records

I absolutely LOVE Jason Jones. What an amazing voice and a unique style. Jason puts on a hell of a live performance, one actually worth paying attention to and not just standing around exhausting your paycheck on drinking beer. He keeps his audience entertained and keeps them coming back for more.

I reviewed his "It Ain't Just Music" cd awhile back and thought it was gonna be hard to top but his latest self-titled "6 pack" EP has proven me wrong. The 6 songs on this project are perfectly suited for those who are looking for upbeat tempo songs, heart wrenching ballads, or lyrical memories of a relationship gone bad. This cd is full of emotion and each song composed from the heart of it's writers. Jason penned 3 of the 6 songs on the EP.

The first single to be released to radio is "Ferris Wheel", a song written by some of the best writers in country music - Kyle Jacobs ("More Than A Memory" Garth Brooks), Josh Kelley ("Georgia Clay"), Darrell Brown ("You'll Think of Me" Keith Urban), Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, and Rachel Thibodeau ("Good Directions" Billy Currington) just to name a few. The song was originally cut by American Idol's Michael Sarver, however in this case, original isn't always the better version. Jason puts more into the song, gives it more of a "good time" feeling and makes you wanna grab that someone special and take 'em up top on the ferris wheel and kiss their face off! Truth be damned, I'd like to take Jason up there and kiss his dimples off but that's just me. LOL! The song is just so darned catchy! Appropriately titled, one of my favorite songs is called "You're My Favorite". Jason included this fantastic song on his "It Ain't Just Music" cd and I fell in love with it then, but this updated version of it really grabs my lyric lovin' heart. The song is such a simple, yet powerful message of the depth of love. After hearing this, I sure wish I was someone's "favorite, someone's best and the reason someone's heart jumps out of their chest". If you ever get the chance to hear him do this live, bring Kleenex. I'm just sayin'. Ya know, I can easily sum this up by saying "BUY IT", the EP is great in it's entirety. With writers like these and Jason singing, you cannot go wrong!

I give this 6 pack my official seal of new artist awesomeness!
