To Those on the East Coast: BE SAFE, BE SMART and BE THANKFUL

To those millions of people on the East Coast who are facing or who have already dealt with Hurricane Irene, please heed any warnings your emergency officials put out there, evacuate if told told and don't try to be invincible. Mother Nature doesn't play favorites and doesn't care if you think you won't get hurt, she doesn't discriminate. As a native of Mobile, AL on the Gulf Coast, I can tell you these aren't storms to be taken lightly regardless of the category, it's the water and wind that can be catastrophic even in a Cat 1 storm. Please take shelter, don't be a dumb ass and try to drive in deep water or go stand out by the ocean to get a better view, you might just get a better view than you think and get injured or worse. We're all praying for you and the safety of your families. Please touch base when it's over, send us pics of the damage in your area so we can post and share your stories with our readers. GOOD LUCK!

These pics were taken in Atlantic Beach, NC (which is about 5 min from where I'll be relocating next month and where my brother currently lives. His house was spared any major damage although he's one row from the ocean, he was lucky. No word on our house yet though ...).
