AARON LEWIS’ ‘COUNTRY BOY’ CERTIFIED GOLD

DEBUT SOLO SINGLE FROM ‘TOWN LINE’ SELLS OVER 500,000 COPIES

AARON LEWIS has experienced a breakthrough year as a solo artist. The singer/songwriter/guitarist’s debut solo single “Country Boy” has just been certified gold, selling in excess of 500,000 copies. The song is featured on LEWIS’ critically acclaimed debut solo EP TOWN LINE released earlier this year on Nashville’s R&J Records.

"This is a really pleasant surprise for me," says LEWIS of the gold certification for “Country Boy.” "It's the first thing I recorded as a solo artist and it’s just a very honest record about who I am. It's great that so many people related to it. I'm looking forward to getting back into the studio to make a full record."

On “Country Boy,” LEWIS gets a little help from legends George Jones and Charlie Daniels, striking a balance between classic and modern country, as LEWIS tells his story like never before.

Not only does the video include clips of Jones and Daniels in the studio, but it also draws from LEWIS' own family archives, giving a glimpse into his youth, home and passions. The video has been viewed over 10 million times on CMT.com and YouTube (http://youtu.be/vsQzw_Ax8Cw) alone. The single and video also earned the Staind frontman his first two CMT Music Award nominations: “Collaborative Video of the Year” and “USAWeekend Breakthrough Video of the Year” (awarded to the best video from an artist's major breakthrough album). Audiences across the country have also experienced LEWIS’ riveting live version of the song and other highlights from TOWN LINE like “The Story Never Ends” and “Massachusetts” at LEWIS’ ongoing series of acoustic shows.

Produced by legendary Nashville producer James Stroud and LEWIS, TOWN LINE debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and #7 on the Top 200 Albums Chart.

TOWN LINE has also drawn critical praise from a wide variety of writers, including PEOPLE’s Chuck Arnold who said "He proves to be a natural on nostalgic ballads like 'The Story Never Ends,’ (3/14/11)," while ASSOCIATED PRESS’ Michael McCall wrote, “He injects a flavor of his own into a polished, commercial country sound in a way that could win over country fans who've never heard of Staind (2/28/11).” COUNTRY WEEKLY’s Jessica Phillips noted, "The songs here are rich with imagery, coupled with soulful arrangements, and should appeal to fans of Darius Rucker and Lady Antebellum (3/7/11)."
