Proceeds To Benefit Ronald McDonald Charities House of Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 16, 2012) -- Music City, Nashville will feel the heat once again this Fall as the 2nd Annual Music City Southern Hot Wing Festival (MCSHWF) fills Downtown Nashville with the tantalizing, alluring aroma of hot wings on the barbie on Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 11:00AM until 7:00PM.
The charity event will be held for the second consecutive year at the Walk of Fame Park located just in front of the Country Music Hall of Fame (and behind the Hilton Hotel). With teams from near and far vying to take home the $1,000 Grand Prize and “Music City’s Best Wings-2012” bragging rights, there will be no shortage of mouth-watering wings for patrons to sample throughout the day. For a small donation, hot wing connoisseurs can taste-test entries from each team to fuel a fiery hunger while demonstrating support for a good cause; all proceeds from the MCSHWF will benefit the Ronald McDonald Charities House of Nashville. Over 20 teams are expected to participate, preparing more than 200 lbs. of wings for the event.
The fee to participate in the contest is $200 per team (the entry deadline is September 15th, 2012). For those who venture to attend the MCSHWF as an aficionado rather than chef, the outing will feature a variety of entertainment and attractions to enjoy, including the gut-busting, all-you-can-eat Hot Wing Eating Contest, a silent auction, activities for the entire family (including a Kids Corner) and two stages featuring live music from some of Music City’s most extraordinary artists and performers. The line-up to date showcases performances by:
Chase Allan, Melissa Bollea, Ty Brown, Randall Clay, Crawford Crossing, Kalisa Ewing,
Lorna Flowers, Clinton Gregory, Lindsey Harding (with Goose Gossett), Bernie Nelson, Tawnya Reynolds, Delta Joe Sanders, Drew Smith, Billy Joe Walker, Jr., Rocky Mountain Entertainment Acoustic Round, The Dirt Kings and The Goats of Kudzu (featuring
Eric Heatherly) with more acts to be announced in the coming days.
Founded in 2002 in Memphis, TN, the original Southern Hot Wing Festival has raised more $95,000 for The Ronald McDonald House of Memphis. Expanding the impact and objective throughout the state, event organizers brought the festival to Music City raising funds for The Ronald McDonald House of Nashville.
“Many families are faced with unexpected and unanticipated life tragedies—a severely sick child—and the Ronald McDonald House is a ‘home away from home’ for those who require overnight accommodations to enable parents to be at their child’s side for medical care and treatments,”explains Paul Gagliano, Southern Hot Wing Festival Chairman and Founder. “It is our hope that through these festivals—a family affair— everyone can experience great music and wonderful food, while making it possible for other families, in need, to be together.”
The 2nd Annual Music City Southern Hot Wing Festival is sponsored in part by Mapco, Grumpy’s Bail Bonds, Sperry Van Ness-Investec Realty Services, Classic Party Rentals and Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka.
