The Passing of A Legend ... Country Says Goodbye to Kitty Wells

Country music said goodbye today with heavy hearts and an immeasurable amount of gratitude to one of the legends that helped make the genre the religion it is, Kitty Wells. Kitty Wells was 92 years young. We would like to extend our deepest and most humble sympathies to her family and friends. Wells was 92.

Kitty was the first female to hit the top of the country charts in 1952 with her hit, "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels." It was her achievements and endeavors that paved the way for other female artists to reach for the stars and make their way in the industry. The oldest living member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, Kitty was inducted in 1976.

A little personal history:

She fell in love and married another country performer, Johnny Wright in 1937, and remained married for 74 years until he passed away in September 2011. Kitty leaves behind a son and daughter.

Services have not been announced to the public as of this time.
