(Nashville, Tennessee...) -- Due to extended power outages and displacement affecting much of the eastern states as a result of Hurricane Sandy, as well as temporary technical difficulties with the online submission process, NSAI has extended the submission deadline of the 13th Annual Song Contest Presented by CMT by one week. The new deadline is now Wednesday, November 7, 2012. Online submissions must be received by 11:59 pm CDT, and songs submitted via mail must be postmarked by November 7, 2012. The extension will not affect the judging timeline or other notification deadlines. Click HERE for more details and submission information.

"Based on the weather and the challenges we were hearing from writers attempting to submit their songs through the online process, we felt it necessary to extend the deadline," said NSAI Events Director David Petrelli. "We want to give these writers every opportunity to get their songs heard, and this was definitely the right thing to do."

Aspiring songwriters in any genre are encouraged to send their best songs to be judged by a panel of experts in a variety of categories. Prize highlights this year include a mentoring session for the Grand Prize winner with superstar singer/songwriter Lionel Richie. The Lyric-Only category is back for its second year, and award-winning songwriter Tom Douglas will mentor this year's category winner.

Additional prizes will include one CMT Listeners' Choice Winner, a single-song professional demo, tickets to the 2013 CMT Music Awards in Nashville, a private tour of CMT studios, a performance at The Bluebird Cafe, meetings with major music publishers and a one-year membership to NSAI.

Entry fees are $35.00 for current NSAI members and $45.00 for non-members) per song submitted. Songwriters may submit as many songs as they would like, but the preceding fees apply to each song submitted. Entries will be accepted until October 31, 2012 via SonicBids.com online submission platform.
