NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Texas born and raised, Sunny Sweeney has long been heralded for her vocal prowess, and now she can add the recognition of an ACM Award nomination to her list of accolades as earlier this week Sunny was unveiled as one of the three nominees in The Academy of Country Music Awards’ New Female Vocalist of the Year category. Voting for the distinguished award will begin on on Monday, January 21 and remain open through Feb. 4 with the winner of the category continuing on to compete for the title of New Artist of the Year Award at the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards live on April 7, 2013 at 8 p.m. ET/delayed PT on the CBS Television Network.

“Getting nominated for ACM New Female Vocalist is maybe the coolest thing to happen to me,” shares Sunny. “I've been playing country music in honky-tonks and dive bars for almost a decade, so finally getting this kind of recognition is absolutely HUGE! I started out playing in Texas for beer and cheeseburgers, so this is just so gratifying!” she says laughing. “In all seriousness, it's validating to know that the ACM considers my kind of country music and my voice something worth keeping an eye and an ear on, and for that, I’m very grateful.”
Sweeney shows off her sense of humor in her ACM campaign video with a spoof of Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg's infamous SNL Digital Short, "Dick In A Box." View Sweeney's version, in which she implores fans to "Click In The Box" below:
