SYMPATHIES AND MEMORIES: JACK GREENE PASSES AWAY

Lovin' Lyrics would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Opry member and country music legend Jack Greene following his death yesterday. Greene passed away at home in Nashville from complications of Alzheimer's at the age of 83. Jack Greene reached #1 five times during his longtime career however his most loved hit was probably "There Goes My Everything" from 1966. Our favorite of his songs is "Statue of a Fool" which was a later hit for Ricky Van Shelton. The following year, the CMA Awards awarded him Album, Single and Male Vocalist of the Year and he became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Greene's career started in radio at WGAP/Maryville, TN, his hometown. In 1962 he joined Ernest Tubb's Texas Troubadour Band as its drummer prior to launching his solo career. Services are pending but will be posted on Opry.com when they become available.

Thank you Jack Greene for the memories and for sharing the talent you were given with countless others. We appreciate you and will miss you.
