CD REVIEW: "Chief" - Eric Church

Photobucket
CD: "Chief"
Artist: Eric Church
Label: EMI Records Nashville
Release: July 26, 2011

Eric Church ... two words immediately come to mind ... AWWW YEAH! Eric Church is one of the hardest rocking, no crap taking, doing it his way or the highway new country artists out there. His new cd, "Chief", in my opinion, is outstanding. Honestly, even though I'm a NC girl, I wasn't really a fan until I heard "Smoke a Little Smoke" on his last cd but the new cd blows that one clear out of the crick water!

Fresh off his win of the CMA Top New Solo Vocalist 2011 award, Eric gets right back to business by continuing to establish his unique style and identity in country music. His songs are honest, his style is loud, gritty and unforgiving and I can pretty much promise that your neighbors won't hesitate to tell you to turn it down because you'll have the speakers cranked to high heaven. Well, when the neighbors complain, invite them in, hand them a cold beer and they'll be fans by the time the last track is over.

The lead track for the cd, "Homeboy", tells the story of that kid we all know who wants to get out of that small town, away from the life he thinks is gonna drag him down, makes him ashamed and later realizes that way of life is what made him who he is and is where he wishes he was later in life. I think that's the pleasure of this song, every one of us can relate in one way or another to that kind of situation. Eric wrote 10 of the 11 tracks on the cd and he knocks it out of the park on every one, but that's no surprise to his fans at all. They expected no less and they got no less with this one. One of the stand out songs on this cd, "Drink in My Hand", was hands down the song many of his followers wanted to be his follow up single and guess what, again, they're not disappointed. The song is setting the pace to roar up the country charts and if you know Eric Church's fan base, they're rabid about Eric and will not stop until it's a chart topper.

Trivia Question: What should you do when it comes to this cd?
A) Purchase it
B) Tell Others About It
C) Use it as a Coaster
D) Play Frisbee with it

Well, answers A and B are a given and hell, C is an option as long as you have another copy sitting in your cd player and you're only using it as a coaster for a cold beer or mixed drink while you listen to the other one. D, well, who the heck even plays frisbee anymore? LOL!

Go get it, do it now. Really! Stop reading this and get it, seriously! NOW!

I give it 5 Jack and Cokes out of 5 Jack and Cokes and am ordering another round!
