On The Brink Of Top 30, The Debut Single Sells Over 7,000 Copies In One Day

Nashville, TN - (September 6, 2012) – Republic Nashville’s rising country rock duo Florida Georgia Line headed south over the weekend (8/31) to perform for 10,000+ during Florida State University’s annual "Friday Night Block Party" in downtown Tallahassee at Kleman Plaza. And, for FGL’s Brian Kelley this show was a bit of a homecoming since he attended FSU before transferring to Belmont to pursue music. “This definitely goes down as the best FSU block party I ever attended!” said Kelley with a smile.
Local radio attributes much of what the FSU Athletic Department calls the “official tailgate event” to FGL’s performance. "It was incredible way for 94-9 TNT (the flagship station for FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY football) to kick off the opening weekend of the season! FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE absolutely WOWed the crowd and they were non-stop on stage, bringing a tremendous energy to the event! Just because they're a new act, don't let that fool you, the crowd was singing to every song! 94-9 TNT was proud to have them play an acoustic lunch for the staff as well earlier in the day as well. Monroe, Georgia’s Tyler Hubbard and Ormond Beach, Florida’s Brian Kelley have been engaging their growing fanbase at headlining shows as well as previous opening dates for Brantley Gilbert and the Country Throwdown Tour. FGL has already sold out two shows in Illinois - The Copper Dragon in Carbondale on September 14 and Joe’s Bar in Chicago on September 28 (a rarity for the popular venue). With these touring milestones, it’s no surprise that they’ve also earned a coveted spot on the “CMT On Tour” with headliner Jake Owen, which will kick off in New York on October 10.
Garnering buzz from fans and radio alike earned FGL their highest one-day sales mark for over 7,000 copies sold of the Top 40-and-climbing debut single “Cruise.” With infectious lyrics and a buoyant melody, the single has sold over 300,000 copies overall and is listed in the Top 25 for sales in many major markets. They bring a fresh sound to the genre and beyond, combining electrifying, hard-driving rock with honest, expressive lyrics. “Cruise” is featured on their EP It’z Just What We Do produced by Joey Moi (Jake Owen, Nickelback).
