John King’s sophomore single “On Your Lips” is full of cheeky humor. King wrote it with a buddy of his, wanting it to be full of pickup lines. Not the ordinary creepy or overly cheesy ones, but ones to charm you and make you laugh a little. Guy walks up to a girl in a bar and starts chatting her up. After not too long, they get to the “So what do you do? What are you working towards? What do you want to do?” His reply is definitely a clever one that you’d have to laugh at were you in this situation. After cycling through the typical dreams, the sports, the what mama wants, etc. He’s finally found what he wants to do with his life, “If I could be anything I’d want to be the next thing on your lips.” Clever Mr. King very clever. His charm and lines must’ve worked because he talks about trying this song idea out on his wife and she deemed it a hit. If you don’t know John King you will soon because “his future’s looking bright” and it’ll surely be played on radio stations everywhere. After a few times everyone’ll be singing, belting it out and playing it on the jukebox, taking a few notes from it or out and out going up to a girl or boy, “If I could be anything I’d want to be the next thing on your lips.” “I mean that was totally the song on the jukebox I’m nowhere near that forward, Oh my god you like John King too? Look at all we have in common what is your name?” I can see it all happening now and can’t wait to watch it unfold.
