CARRIE UNDERWOOD HITS A RELATABLE NOTE WITH NEW SINGLE, "CRY PRETTY"

With her new single, "Cry Pretty", Carrie Underwood has returned with a vengeance and proven without a shadow of a doubt why she regins as one of country music's strongest and most popular voices. She didn't just return, she threw open the door, walked in with a purpose and slammed that sucker shut almost as hard as she sings the last minute of the song. To use the word "Slay" when it comes to this song would be an Underwood, I mean under, statement. Vocally, she nails the whole song, but she leaves the last minute of this song on the floor in a big shivering, weepy heap of "that's how it's done around here" and leaves even the most skeptical listener shaking their head in a state of "holy crap!"

This song is brilliantly relatable to ANYONE. I don't care who you are, how perfect you may think or not think your life is, whether your self-esteem is high or low, how rich you are or if you're struggling - we have ALL taken a look in the mirror and had a good, soul cleaning ugly cry. The human emotion is something we all share and have in common. Whether you're a Carrie Underwood fan or not, this song has a way of striking a chord in all of us. We try to mask our pain through forced smiles, positive social media updates and in a multitude of other ways, all in order to keep from being seen as "weak" or letting others see that we're not able to hold it together as we want them to think we can. At the end of the day, we all have something that brings us to tears once in awhile. You can't always hide the truth, as ugly as it might be, it's always going to get us. "You can't turn off the flood when the dam breaks." It's ok to be vulnerable, to be honest with yourself and to not always "cry pretty".

What's more than ok is this song. This song is so ok that you should go download it right now and listen to it when you feel that ugly cry coming on and "face that you can't cry pretty."

Carrie nailed in on this one - message, vocals and emotion. I give this one 5 out of 5 damp, tear stained Kleenex.
