BRETT KISSEL EARNS 2021 JUNO AWARD SINGLE OF THE YEAR NOMINATION WITH "DRINK ABOUT ME"

The First Country Song Nominated in the Category in a Decade
Earns the 2-time JUNO Award-Winner his Fifth Career Nomination

One of Country music’s fastest rising stars, Brett Kissel, has picked up a Juno nomination for his song "Drink About Me'' in the Single of the Year category. “Drink About Me” is the first country song nominated for this prestigious award in a decade. Kissel joins an elite group of talent in the category that includes Justin Bieber (“Intentions” [feat. Quavo]), The Weeknd (“Blinding Lights”), JP Saxe (“If The World Was Ending” [feat. Julia Michaels]), and Lennon Stella (“Kissing Other People”).

A Juno Award is considered the top musical honor in Canada, comparable to the U.S. GRAMMY. This marks Kissel’s fifth career nomination for a Juno Award with two trophies won for Country Album of the Year for his album, We Were That Song and Breakthrough Artist of the Year in 2014. Released in Sept. of 2019,” Drink About Me” reached the top of the charts in Feb. 2020, making it Kissel’s second #1 hit at Canadian Country radio. The 50th JUNO Awards will broadcast from Toronto on May 16 and air across all CBC's platforms.

The song's music video featured Bachelor Nation fan favorites Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick (view here). The video premiered on Entertainment Tonight and garnered attention from PEOPLE Magazine, OK! Magazine, Bustle, E! News, and many more outlets. The music video received significant airplay on CMT Music and since its release, it has garnered over 35 million streams.

The 18-time Canadian Country Music (CCMA) award-winning musician recently announced his upcoming album release, What is Life? On April 9. Kissel gives fans a first taste of the album with a new single, “Make A Life, Not A Living,” now available. While fans were still buzzing about last year’s Now Or Never album, Brett started looking towards his next release, but couldn’t get three words out of his head – What Is Life? The search for something “more” weighed heavily on the country star’s mind, and with the new album, Brett Kissel invites fans to take a deep-dive with him into songs about love, celebration, and gratitude.

Brett Kissel is on Warner Music Canada and has had tremendous success in his home country. His charismatic personality, energetic stage presence, and music style have propelled him to the top of the Canadian Country music charts, with two Gold-certified albums, a Platinum and eight Gold singles, and 15 top-10 radio hits to his credit. 2019-2020 was a storybook year for Brett, winning the JUNO Award (equivalent to the American Grammy) for Country Album of the Year and earning the Canadian Country Music Association's Fans' Choice Award, following a record-breaking 112-date tour that reached every single province and territory.
