DELANEY GRANT RELEASES NEW SINGLE "WHAT MADE ME" AND BONUS TRACK " HOME"

Country music vocalist Delaney Grant has released a brand-new single, titled “What Made Me,” along with a bonus track, “Home.” Both tracks are songs of reflection, working in tandem as they take the listener on a journey to the past with “What Made Me” offering a look at the lessons that shaped the narrator’s character through the years and “Home” describing the feeling of when a present-day experience is reminiscent of one’s upbringing.

Produced by Travis Humbert and mastered by Nick Lane, Grant had hands-on involvement in the creation process of both songs, from start to finish. Musicians on “What Made Me” include Evan Hutchings on drums, Tim Galoway on guitar and mandolin, Travis Humbert on bass, and Grant delivering the sweet strum of the violin herself. Grant also wrote both “What Made Me” and “Home” with Alee, also known as Alexandra Adamoksi, as a co-writer on the former track and Angela Rozman and Darbi Shaun serving as co-writers on the latter.

Grant described how the events from the past year inspired her to write both tracks when she said, “These songs are so important to me because they represent who I am beyond an artist or a songwriter. “What Made Me” illustrates all the little moments that took part in making me the person I am today. “Home” tells little stories of all the similarities between where I'm from and where I live now in Nashville. Living so far away from home and being limited to travel due to Covid, it's an understatement to say I'm a little homesick. I moved to Nashville when I was 20 years old, and even though I was extremely nervous about moving to another country, I couldn't wait to leave home. However, the pandemic really put things into perspective and made me appreciate where I come from. I decided to package the songs together because they complement each other and give two different pictures of what made me and where I come from.”

The young Canadian country artist Delaney Grant sprung her passion for music when she first ignited inside her mother’s step dance studio, performing publicly for the first time at the age of two. Moved by the rhythm and energy of traditional folk music, Grant picked up the fiddle at the age of four, soon adding guitar, piano, and mandolin to her repertoire as she improved her technique and musicianship through formal lessons and youth ensembles. Her world opened up to the Country music genre and the craft of singing as she continued to learn about the textures of the instruments she was playing and how they play an intricate role. Soon, the starry-eyed songstress began to look up to Canadian country vocalists like Shania Twain, who could conjure up familiar, relatable feelings through their songs. Grant was continually experimented with singing and songwriting, composing poems and lyrics about her experiences, and piecing together delicate melodies. At 14 -years old, her family lost their home to a fire, causing Grant to fully tap into her talent as she began to write music to help process the loss, triumph over adversity and rediscover joy.

Though still poised at the beginning of her career, Grant gained momentum and early success over the past year. In 2020, she released her first EP, After the Fire, and received nominations for four awards in Ottawa, Canada –artist of the year, country artist, song of the year with “Exes,” and album of the year. Two songs from her last EP “Exes” and “Grace” were spun on Canadian radio in 2020. She has also already collaborated with big names in both the Canadian and American country scenes. Staying true to her willingness to dive into the personally challenging subject matter, she co-wrote “So Long,” about her struggle with the untimely passing of her aunt with alt-country singer/songwriter Tara Shannon and in 2016, she released “Better,” her first international single, co-written by Andy Gibson (Jason Aldean/Kelly Clarkson “Don’t You Wanna Stay”) and Maks Gabriel.
