“Black Crow” is the riveting debut country radio single from lifelong Nashville native Mitchell Tenpenny. Written by the Tenpenny and Brad Clawson, "Black Crow" is from the artist's upcoming full-length album on The Creation Lab Records, set for an early 2015 release.
Playing guitar, drums and keyboards from an early age, the artist grew up around the music business as the grandson of late Nashville music executive Donna Hilley.
Continuing to hone his talents after finishing college at Middle Tennessee State University, the quality of Tenpenny's songwriting captured considerable industry attention and he recently signed a publishing deal with Sony/Tree Music.
The Story Behind Black Crow
“She’s a black crow out of control, dial 911 and let them know.
There’s a thief on the loose and she’s running off with my heart.”
“One day I was walking through the college campus and I heard a girl scream to her friend: 'He’s on the loose, He stole my heart.’ As a songwriter you look for golden moments like these! I remember thinking ‘that’s the perfect song about my current life.’ I went home and wrote 'Black Crow' with my best friend Brad Clawson. I couldn’t think of a better way to express how this girl completely changed my world and stole my heart. This song tells the entire story, from when I met her to when she took it all!”
