GRAMMY AWARD-WINNING ARTIST, JOHN BERRY, ANNOUNCES NEW FAITH BASED ALBUM, "FIND MY JOY"

GRAMMY® Award-winning country singer/songwriter, John Berry, has recorded a new album, Find My Joy, featuring heartfelt renditions of Gospel classics that have inspired him offstage and grounded his lauded musical journey.

Best recognized for his hit song “Your Love Amazes Me” and his incredible rendition of the Christmas classic “Oh Holy Night,” Berry seamlessly delivers timeless standards “How Great Thou Art,” “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” “I Surrender All” and several new songs, sharing the hope he has found personally with listeners everywhere. Berry’s rendition of the classic “I Surrender All” is available now wherever music is streamed. A second track, “How Great Thou Art,” will be available on March 4. The pre-sale link is available here.

Arranged and produced by multi-award-winning producer Steve Dorff, the project was recorded at Dorffmeister Studio, Sound Stage and Masterfonics. It was engineered by Craig White with assistance from David Bates and Joel McKenney; and it features keyboards by Jimmy Nichols, guitars by B. James Lowry and Justin Ostrander and background vocals by Tania Hancheroff, Kim Keyes, Joe Chemay and Robert Bailey. The album was programmed by Gene Miller with additional keyboards played by Dorff. Caelan Berry played drums on “Live Like You” and “How Great Thou Art.”

“I loved the idea of putting my musical spin on some of these incredible pieces of musical art,” added Steve Dorff. “John was so very collaborative in letting me be inventive in my approach to the overall sound and the production of the project.”

Dorff had not grown up listening to the traditional (Christian) versions of some of these songs and had not heard a few of them before, but he was drawn to the beautiful melodies. This allowed him to bring a unique sound and fresh ear to the production of these standards, adding his creative elements to the production, including an impressive string orchestra and choir.

The performance of “Something Bigger Than Me” included the 60-piece Utah Symphony Orchestra, arranged by Larry Herbstritt and conducted by Dorff, with piano from award-winning studio musician and recording artist Gordon Mote.

The title track was written in September 2020 by Dorff and Jack Cassidy. When Dorff played the song for Berry and his wife, Robin, while planning the new recording, Berry immediately connected with the message. He had been through a hard season physically, emotionally and mentally–battling throat cancer and carrying the burdens felt worldwide as he navigated the touring impacts of the pandemic. Diving into the new album and hearing and recording this song was part of his journey to find joy again.

“I love the opportunity I have had to create new music, and it is awesome to look back here at the beginning of a new year and see that for 10, 20, 25 years I have had new music to share. Amazing!” exclaimed Berry.

Showcasing Berry’s unmistakable voice that has garnered Platinum records and 20 hit singles, Find My Joy, available on Gaither Music Group’s Gaither Gospel Series, is distributed by Capitol Christian Music Group and Universal Music. The recording will be available to download and stream on all digital music platforms and at Christian retailers on March 25, 2022. Pre-orders can be placed now on Gaither.com and Amazon.com.

“Gaither Music Group is honored to partner with John and his team for this special recording,” stated Paul Sizelove, president of Gaither Music Group. “John has impacted countless people with his songwriting, performances and radio hits. He has developed a brand of faith and family that brings uplifting entertainment as well as encouragement to listeners, and we are excited to introduce his renditions of these timeless songs on the Gaither platforms.”

There is a backstory to this project. John was deep in the middle of his throat cancer treatment during Spring 2019 and as one can imagine, he was not in a good place as it was very hard for him physically, emotionally and mentally. Fast forward to 2020 and the world was navigating Covid and touring artists were faced with dealing with the issues of canceling tours and the unknown future as much of the world as we know it was shut down. John found himself looking for ways to keep productive and he was ready to dive into recording a new project. The single, “Find My Joy,” was written in September 2020 by Steve Dorff and Jack Cassidy. Jump ahead to January 2021, Steve Dorff played the song for John and his wife, Robin while meeting to discuss Steve arranging the songs for John’s new project. John immediately knew he wanted to record this song for his new faith-based album. It was shortly thereafter they discussed Steve producing the whole project. Hailing from New York City, Steve had not grown up listening to the traditional (Christian) versions of some of these songs and hadn’t even heard a few of them before but was drawn to the beautiful melodies, which allowed for him to bring a unique sound to the production of these standards. When John arrived at the studio to record vocals, Steve had added his creative elements to the production, including an impressive string orchestra and choir, to bring this incredible music to life. End result – this music is incredible!

JOHN BERRY CELEBRATES 60TH BIRTHDAY AND 40 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF HIS FIRST ALBUM, “HUMBLE BEGINNINGS” WITH LIMITED RELEASE

Grammy winning singer/songwriter, John Berry, celebrated his 60th birthday performing in Panama City Beach and the 40th Anniversary of his first album, which he self-released on vinyl and titled it Humble Beginnings in September 1979. He wrote all of the songs himself. The musicians that joined Berry on Humble Beginnings were some of Berry's dearest friends. His band consisted of Dick Falcone on bass guitar, Mark Ensley on drums, and Perry Barton played piano and background vocals. The album was recorded and re-mixed at The Basement, Chamblee, Georgia with piano tracks recorded at Landmark Christian Church, Doraville, Georgia. There is a picture of the little studio on the back cover. Along with recording there, Perry and John would load the gear into his van and set it up late at night at his old church and use their wonderful grand piano. It was this first album that started a tradition to always place a clock somewhere in the cover of the album with the time set at the release number.  A limited number of the collectors edition of the original vinyl is available at johnberrystore.bigcartel.com.

Berry’s early music was influenced by Cat Stevens, John Denver, Harry Chapin, Kenny Loggins and Neil Young, no traditional country artists were on his radar at that time, but his sweet-sounding tenor made the most of his country-flavored pop material with all its well-rounded edges.

“I started playing acoustic guitar in 1972 and I didn’t grow up listening to country music,” Berry admits. “But my music lent itself to that marketplace.”

The project is comprised of ten songs, written by John Berry, trying to put to music his heart as a young man. "I can honestly say that I didn’t have any idea what I was doing, but I did have my dear friend and fellow musician, Perry Barton, right there beside me as we tried to figure it all out. If nothing else it was a great learning experience and I wouldn’t trade the time we spent working on these projects at The Basement for anything. That little studio, as primitive as it was, was a place that I really learned who I was, and who I wasn’t." reflects Berry. "It’s hard to believe it was 40 years ago. Hopefully I’ve grown!"

His third album, Waiting For You, is also being made available. These two vinyl albums are the only remaining original vinyl records before he signed a record deal. By late 1981, Perry had joined a great Atlanta band, The Joe Band. "They were so flippin’ good!!! I would go to hear them play as often as I could. I was a bit of a nuisance I’m sure, but I loved to hear those guys play," exclaimed John Berry. The Joe Band lent their talents to the making of Waiting For You.  Berry explained his reasoning, "Growth was certainly going to happen when you have talented people with you. I was still trying to learn how to write songs and how to sing without sounding like I was singing in a choir!" The Joe Band, comprised of Jody Worrell, Ken McNeil, Jim Durand, Perry Barton, and Michael C Steele became good friends of Berry and eventually, Steele left that band and came to play in Athens, Ga with Berry in the Spring of 1985 and has continued to play in John's band today. More information on this album is available at www.johnberry.com.

Berry added, "Not all history is pretty, but it’s mine. I own it. It’s how I got here. I hope you’ll enjoy the journey back in time, if nothing else it will help you appreciate (and be thankful for) the present even more!"

John Berry – Humble Beginnings Tracklist:

During the 1980s and early 1990s, Berry worked the Atlanta club circuit and released five more independent albums. His breakthrough came in 1993, when his first album on a major label, Capitol, went platinum with sales of more than 1 million copies. He followed that with a second Capitol album, “Standing on the Edge,” which included the hit song “Your Love Amazes Me.” “Your Love Amazes Me” went to No. 1 on the country music charts, earning Berry a Grammy Award nomination and other honors. Another cut from that CD, “Standing on the Edge of Goodbye,” was also nominated for a Grammy.

John Berry, a Grammy winning singer/songwriter, has released “The Richest Man,” off his latest project, Thomas Road. The poignant, heartfelt and personal song penned by Berry, Liz Hengber and Will Robinson was produced by Chuck Howard, who produced all of the familiar Berry hits over the years, as well as last summer's Top 30 "Beautifully Broken" from the hit film of the same name. Stream and download the music on all digital music platforms here.

The endearing single entitled, “The Richest Man,” is available for radio airplay via CDX released in advance of Fathers Day, along with an aggressive grass-roots social media campaign. The song is dedicated to his dad who taught him that the most valuable things in life typically had very little to do with money.

"I never tire of hearing this most fundamental message of country music — happiness doesn’t lie in wealth, but in love. Few have the heart and soul to deliver it as effectively as this guy. Brilliantly crafted, wonderfully melodic, exquisitely poetic and flawlessly produced."

- MusicRow Magazine DISCovery by Robert K Oermann

"So thrilled to hear John Berry back doing what he does best... singing a great song with that amazing voice."

- Charlie Mattos, Producer/CoHost Coffee Country & Cody

"John Berry sings “The Richest Man” with a voice of a man who has seen it and lived it. This is a powerful song with truthful lyrics that we all should consider in our lives. John Berry delivers it with conviction that will give you goosebumps."

- Eric Dahl, Host FOX 17 Rock & Review

"It's one of those rare recordings that no matter how many times I hear it, my eyes moisten. And John has never sounded better telling the story."

- Mike Terry, 650-AM WSM / SiriusXM Prime Country

“The lyric paints a picture of two men -- one who is wealthy by the world’s standards but dies alone, and the other an average Joe, who is rich in love, family and community respect.”

- Deborah Evans Price, Billboard Magazine

"A tribute, a life lesson, and a song-sermon all wrapped up in one of the most beloved voices in country music. The Richest Man by John Berry makes Father's Day a year round gift to all of us. This is a classic!"

- Devon O'Day, Nashville Today host-650AM WSM

“It is with a grateful heart for a dad that loved me and showed me what was important in life that I dedicate this work to my father, Jim Berry and to other fathers that walked before and after him, that strove to make their children’s lives full and rich in what really mattered, faith, family, and friends,” said John Berry.

It is no surprise that John Berry quickly sells out venues all over the country. The Entertainment Nexus once described the award-winning entertainer as "one of the most remarkable voices in music."

“WE ALL COME TOGETHER” BENEFIT FOR JOHN BERRY AND MUSIC HEALTH ALLIANCE WAS FULL OF LOVE, EMOTIONS AND SURPRISES

“We All Come Together" for John Berry and Music Health Alliance has been defined in many ways since the event held on April 23 at City Winery in Nashville, the words “We” and “Together” being the most important. The love and support shown to John Berry and his family was abundant for the sold out show not only by the fans, friends and family who filled the seats, but also everyone behind the scenes, as well as those who appeared on stage, including everyone who made donations and contributions to the event. Financial totals raised are expected to exceed $300K, although final tabulations are not available as of this release.

The benefit surpassed the traditional fundraising concert expectations by the incredible talent on hand who were backed by John’s band throughout the show. Hosted by WSM on-air personalities Chris Kulick, Devon O’Day and Mike Terry, along with Lorianne Crook and Charlie Chase of the Crook and Chase show, each sharing personal story after story about each artist who took the stage and engaging the audience with anticipation of the next performance.

Surprises and heartfelt special moments personal to John Berry and his wife Robin, as well as their family, were plentiful. John’s original band members, who toured with him at the height of his music career, together with John’s son, Caelan on drums and his wife Robin singing backup, joined his son, Sean, to play “Kiss Me In The Car,” bringing John to his feet, speechless and wiping tears as he tried to express his joy in seeing everyone on stage together.

A first time ever on stage collaboration performance by Trace Adkins, T. Graham Brown, Jimmy Fortune and Marty Raybon of “Workin’ On A Building,” had the crowd on their feet in awe. The song was originally recorded in 2012 as part of a fundraising effort to benefit the Mindanao Blessings International Philippines Orphanage Project.

Vince Gill, alone on the stage with just his guitar, delivered a touching performance of “Prove Me Wrong,” a song written by Gill and recorded by John Berry in 1995.

One of the most special moments came during the show when John took to the stage to sing his new single, “The Richest Man,” a heartfelt tribute to his father for teaching him the important things in life are friendships and values, not material things. "I may have written this song about my dad, but if my dad was here tonight, he would say I was the richest man he ever knew," expressed Berry as he introduced the song.

Berry followed this with “There Could Never Be Another Love,” with his wife Robin on stage next to him, sharing with those in attendance that he had 35 treatments for his cancer and she was right beside him for each and every one of them. As the song progressed, audience members brought to the stage, one by one, 35 long stemmed red roses to represent each cancer treatment. There was not a dry eye in the house.

Three unannounced and surprise guests stepped on stage with performances of their iconic songs. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, Jim Messina, had the crowd on their feet with his Loggins and Messina hit song, "If Your Momma Don't Dance," and Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood performed their legendary hit songs "Walk Away Joe" and "Friends in Low Places."

The evening ended with a sing-a-long of “We All Come Together,” a song recorded by John Berry and many of the artist’s who appeared throughout the concert to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. The original song was written by John Berry and Chuck Jones, but the lyrics were modified to fit this special occasion by Jones who came out and sang front and center along with many of the artists who performed during the event.

"It's so hard to find the words to convey how I feel about the "We All Come Together” Benefit, not only for me, but also for Music Health Alliance. Thank you is not big enough, incredible is not incredible enough and amazing is not amazing enough. In a million years I could not have imagined a night like Tuesday night. The artists, emcees, the photographers, the press, the Berry Lead team, the band, my friends, my family, the folks I met that night; it is almost too much to wrap my mind around. There was an enormous amount of love in the room. I am honored, humbled and grateful for the love shown to me and Robin. It is my hope that in the future as I heal and get back to playing music, that I can pass on that huge amount of love I received Tuesday night to others. Whether it be for folks in the music community, family, friends or fans, I want to give back what has been shown to me,” shares John Berry. “I am so happy that Music Health Alliance is a recipient of all the love shown Tuesday night. MHA has been there for my family for several years, providing answers and assistance for all our health insurance needs."

Artists who generously and graciously gave of their time and talent were revealed by media partner WSM Radio and live-streamed on The Heartland Network on the Cody, Coffee and Country show leading up to the event.

Inspirational Feature Film ‘Beautifully Broken’ to Screen at NRB Program 2018 Conference

ACM, CMA, and Grammy award-winning Country artist, John Berry, has released the title track for Big Film Factory's exhilarating new feature film, Beautifully Broken to radio. The song, which features heartfelt lyrics, is perfectly paired with the compelling film that tells the riveting true story of three families, worlds apart, whose paths seem unlikely to cross. Each family faces a crisis beyond their control and is forced to make difficult decisions. Those decisions set in motion a series of events that leads to their lives becoming intertwined in ways they could have never predicted or imagined. Their journeys reveal the divine tapestry of God's love and guidance, and they learn firsthand the power of forgiveness andreconciliation. Fans can view the trailer at beautifullybrokenmovie.com.

Chuck Howard (Beautifully Broken, I’m Not Ashamed, and award-winning music Producer honored by Billboard Magazine for having the biggest Billboard single in the first 100 years of the magazines history with“How Do I Live,” as well as the longest-running single on the Billboard Christian chart with “You Light Up My Life.”) produced the track, which is now at radio. John Berry commented, “I received a text from my friend and producer Chuck Howard saying, ‘I have a song you need to sing’ followed by a rough edit of the film ‘Beautifully Broken.’ I watched the film and was moved to tears… I called Chuck and told him, ‘I’m sure the song is great and I look forward to hearing it, but regardless of the song, I want to be a part of this film any way he could use me; people need to see this film!’ Of course, thesong is an amazing work in and of its self, but this song in this film, wow! It was such an honor to sing and be a small part of this story.”
