LORRIE MORGAN AND JESSE KEITH WHITLEY FEATURED ON FOX NEWS PODCAST: CHILDREN OF SONG

The daughter of Country Music Hall of Famer George Morgan, Lorrie was encouraged by her famous father and made her mark early on, singing at the Grand Ole Opry when she was just 13 years old.

With three #1's and numerous hits over the years, Lorrie has eclipsed her famous daddy in many ways, who died of a heart attack when she was just a teenager.  But her life off-stage is almost as well-known as that velvety voice, which has wowed Opry crowds for three decades.

In the podcast, Lorrie discusses her relationship with the late country music great, Keith Whitley, Lorrie shares touching stories about losing the love of her life to alcohol addiction and how she soldiered on for her kids, herself and ultimately for the fans who she still plays for today.

In this episode, Lorrie weaves spectacular stories, singing snippets of her greatest hits while leaving the room in stitches with her wild sense of humor. Joined by her son Jesse, she still sings with a lot of emotion and joy.  She'll make you laugh; she'll make you cry; sometimes all at the same time.

Multi-Platinum Country Music Star and Grand Ole Opry® Member, Lorrie Morgan has signed on as the flagship artist of the newly formed Agency33 Tour Press division. In her storied career, Morgan has amassed sales of more than 12 million albums worldwide, which includes fourteen top ten hits, over a dozen full length albums and four Female Vocalist of the Year awards.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with Joey again,” states Morgan. “I’m at a point in my career where I have the freedom to be as artistic as I want and step out of the box a bit. Nowadays, the only people I’m trying to please are my fans. It’s rare to find people that understand and nurture that; Joey fits right in with me and my team and I look forward to seeing what we come up with next!”

Morgan was the first female artist to have earned three consecutive RIAA-Certified Platinum albums and made her mark with what have now become timeless country standards including, “Five Minutes,” “Except For Monday,” “Something In Red,” “Watch Me,” and “What Part Of No.”

“I am so honored to welcome Lorrie to Agency33. We have been working together for the past year and for her and her team to put their trust in me, means so much. I look forward to being a part of the next stage in her illustrious career,” states Joey Amato, President of Agency33.

Lorrie Morgan has firmly established her place as a country star—a modern woman making country music history. Born Loretta Lynn Morgan, Lorrie made her first appearance on the Grand Ole Opry® stage at age 13. Three short years later, after her dad, country music star George Morgan’s passing, Lorrie launched her own career touring with her father’s band. In 1984 she made history of her own when she became a lifetime member of the Grand Ole Opry® at the age of 24 — at the time, she was the youngest artist to ever be inducted.

Morgan continues to record and tour extensively. Her latest solo project, “Letting Go...Slow” was released in early 2016 to critical acclaim. The collection includes brand new material along with Morgan’s take on classics such as “Ode to Billie Jo,” and the Larry Gatlin penned heartbreaker, “I’ve Done Enough Dying Today.” She recently finished recording a second duets album with longtime friend, collaborator and touring partner, Pam Tillis. The project is set for release this fall. Lorrie’s 2017 tour has her visiting every corner of the United States, multiple trips to Canada, as well as stops in Finland and Norway.

LORRIE MORGAN TO RELEASE A PICTURE OF ME – GREATEST HITS & MORE ON MARCH 18

Compilation Album Featuring New Recordings of Greatest Hits and Brand New Songs Follows First New Studio Album in Five Years, 'Letting Go… Slow', In Stores Now

Pre-Order On iTunes and Amazon!

Good things come in pairs, and this season legendary country music songstress Lorrie Morgan celebrates two new album releases, back-to-back. Following the February 12 release of her first new studio album in five years, Letting Go… Slow, released by Shanachie Entertainment, Morgan will celebrate the juxtaposed March 18 drop of a brand new compilation album, A Picture Of Me – Greatest Hits & More. The new project is a product of Goldenlane Records, (a division of Cleopatra Records), a label that's been extremely active in the country music genre, having recently released new albums by such stars as the Oak Ridge Boys, Collin Raye, Little Texas and TG Sheppard, amongst others. A Picture Of Me – Greatest Hits & More is now available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon.

Having lived a life of great loss and triumph, Morgan has been quoted saying, “In many ways, my life has been a country song.” In an article published by People Magazine Morgan revealed that although a lot of good things have happened to her, the tragedies have been overwhelming. Devastated by the loss of her father, country star George Morgan when she was just 16; and then the unexpected death of her husband and fellow country star Keith Whitley when she was in her late twenties, Morgan’s first years of career success were far from painless.

Her song “Dear Me” became her first Top 10 hit shortly after Whitley’s death, followed by “Out Of Your Shoes,” and “Five Minutes,” which both skyrocketed to No. 1. “Here I am,” she told People Magazine, “In this tragedy, and I had something I had wanted for so long, a hit record. And as much as I thank God, I say, ‘thanks, but please – make it a little easier.’” Through the years, Morgan has credited her audiences for being her therapists and helping her make it through those hard times through music.

Now, nearly two decades later, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, legendary country star and four-time Female Vocalist Of The Year, she says she is happier than ever, and two new music projects on the horizon are just icing on the cake.

“Letting Go… Slow is all new music about where I am right now and what all I’ve been through and was forced to learn about all along this crazy journey called life, and A Picture Of Me – Greatest Hits & More is a representation of how far I’ve come,” Morgan said. “This compilation album is, truly, a picture of me – my biggest hits and those songs that have hit me the hardest or inspired me the most over the years. I am very proud of them both.”

Featuring newly re-recorded versions of her top hits “Watch Me,” “Something In Red,” “Good As I Was To You,” “Five Minutes,” “Except For Monday, “ A Picture Of Me (Without You)," "What Part Of No,” and brand-new songs like Dottie West’s “Here Comes My Baby,” A Picture Of Me – Greatest Hits & More also features never-before-heard songs from Morgan like “I Went Crazy For Awhile” and “Hopelessly Yours,” written and co-written by Keith Whitley. Morgan also includes beautiful renditions of Tammy Wynette’s “’Til I Can Make It On My Own,” and George Jones’s “Loving You Could Never Be Better.”

The album is produced by Matt Legge.

LORRIE MORGAN TO RELEASE FIRST SOLO ALBUM IN FIVE YEARS

Letting Go… Slow Out February 12 on Shanachie Entertainment

“I have been a daughter, a bride, a mother, a divorcee, a widow, a single mother, a grandmother, a breadwinner, and, ultimately a survivor. It seems, in many ways, I am a living, breathing country song, and I know what I sing.” – Lorrie Morgan

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (December 21, 2015) – Lorrie Morgan dominated the 90s with top-charting hits like "What Part Of No," "Except For Monday," "Five Minutes," and "Watch Me," and celebrates a career spanning four decades with over 8 million albums sold. A multiple Female Vocalist Of The Year Award-Winner, she is the first female country star in history to have ever garnered three consecutive albums certified Platinum. In 2016, the country music songstress is back with her first solo album in five years. Morgan will release Letting Go… Slow on February 12, 2016 on Shanachie Entertainment. The album follows her collaboration album, Dos Divas, released with Pam Tillis in 2013.

Letting Go… Slow features 12 tracks, some upbeat and sassy like her top hits “What Part Of No,” and “Five Minutes,” others pensive and heart-rending. Produced by Richard Landis, (whose credits include some of Morgan’s top hits, Vince Gill, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band), the album seemingly takes on some of Morgan’s most challenging life experiences through song in soulful ballads like “What I’d Say,” “Slow,” and a powerful cover of Larry Gatlin and The Gatlin Brothers’ “I’ve Done Enough Dying Today.” She’s witty and radiant on “Jesus and Hairspray,” embraces the classic country sound on “Strange,” and expands her musical depth on a cover of Bob Dylan’s classic, “Lay Lady Lay.”

The keen production on each track highlights her signature vocals, which have long been praised by critics. “There’s a dark grain to her voice, a fine, sandpaper edge that imbues her strong, clear pipes with subtle grit. She’s one of the most distinctive singers of contemporary country, a subtle interpreter who is at her best when explicating sorrows large and small,” wrote CMT. American Music Channel added, “Veterans of the singing business shouldn’t look nor sound as good as Lorrie Morgan, but then again, she was never exactly your typical Nashville singer.”

The daughter of late country star George Morgan, Morgan made her Opry debut at the age of 13 and was one of the youngest to ever be inducted as a lifetime member, at age 24. She celebrated multiple top-charting hits including “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength,” “I Guess You Had To Be There,” “Something In Red,” among many others. She is a four-time Female Vocalist Of The Year Award-Winner, and in 1994, she garnered CMA’s Album Of The Year Award for Common Thread. In 1990, Morgan and her late husband, Keith Whitley, took home the CMA Award for Vocal Event Of The Year for “Til A Tear Becomes A Rose.” She’s celebrated multiple RIAA-Certified Gold and Platinum records throughout her storied career.

CONCERT REVIEW: LORRIE MORGAN - MOREHEAD CITY, NC 8/15/14

ARTIST: Lorrie Morgan
DATE: August 15, 2014
VENUE: Morehead City Performing Arts Center - Morehead City, NC

I had the pleasure of seeing Lorrie Morgan perform in Morehead City, NC this past Friday, August 15, 2014. I have loved Lorrie's music since first hearing her back in the 90's and have been totally in love with her attitude and voice ever since. Having never seen her perform live, needless to say I was totally excited for this show and expected a great show. What I got was not great, it was OUTSTANDING. They made the announcement of no photography and no video so I don't have my usual photo gallery but I did sneak in a few cell phone photos. I can't do a review with no photos!

The Morehead Center for the Performing Arts is a great, intimate 50's era former movie theatre that seats (I'd guess) about 500 patrons. I absolutely love the feel of this venue. The acoustics are fantastic, the seats are comfortable, the stage is just high enough to be a great view from any location in the theatre, there is never a problem with parking, it's in old downtown Morehead City with restaurants within walking distance and they sell cold beer, popcorn and movie style candy. I wish more higher calibre artists such as Lorrie would take advantage of this great place to perform.

When I took my front row seat (yes, I splurged this time), I looked at the stage and knew this was going to be a memorable show. On stage were 3 stools and acoustic guitars. I was actually getting anxious to see what the night was going to bring. Lorrie took the stage looking like we knew she would, just as she always has, stunningly gorgeous with a very down to earth, yet somewhat diva-esque air about her. In stiletto heels and a form hugging black one-sleeved dress and her signature platinum hair, she drew a standing ovation simply upon taking the stage and entering the room - a surefire sign that you are seeing a well respected and loved artist. There was a quiet still that enveloped the room as she began to sing the Bonnie Tyler classic hit, "It's a Heartache". Wow! I had long forgotten that song and to hear Lorrie sing it did it more justice than the original! Her voice is exactly as strong and flawless as it was many years ago when I first heard her sing "Out Of Your Shoes." This many years later, many voices seem to falter, sound aged. Not Lorrie. Her voice is clear as a bell, right on spot with every note and fills your soul. I know that sounds cliche, but it happens!

She performed a multitude of her best loved hits such as "What Part of No", "Out Of Your Shoes", "Five Minutes", "Go Away", and "Good As I Was To You" which completely took me back to a place I miss everyday, the 90's - a time when true country music was flourishing, hitting it's stride with artists like Clint Black, Alabama, Vince Gill and Patty Loveless, a time when your local country bar offered line dance and two step lessons and speaking of the two step, a tall man in a cowboy hat, Wranglers with a huge belt buckle and Durango boots would politely introduce himself, call you "Ma'am" as he asks you to dance and would whisk you around a sawdust floor. Man I miss those days, the days before "Fireball Whiskey', "tailgates" and "sugar shakers" were over saturating country radio, the days when country music had a relateable story, a soul. Lorrie brought the heartbeat of country and the Grand Ole Opry to that small Morehead City, NC stage with classics like her duet with George Jones, "Picture of Me (Without You)", a Patsy Cline classic "Leavin' on Your Mind", "One of a Kind" by Tammy Wynette and "Green, Green Grass of Home" before which she told stories about Porter Wagner that brought smiles to every face in the crowd. Shhhh, I may or may not have cried a little. She also reminded us that she is born of Opry royalty by performing a hit her father, George Morgan, made famous - "Candy Kisses". It really felt like being in the Ryman and watching a legend perform. I can't describe the feeling any better than that.

Lorrie also performed songs from her current project with Pam Tillis, "Grits and Glamour". She performed their latest single, "I Am Woman" with her daughter in law, Ashlee Hewitt, who played guitar and sang harmony with her the entire night. This song is relateable to every women who hears it, it IS every woman who hears it. It made me quietly reflect on who I am as a woman, the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly. She also performed a song, "Mirror Mirror" about woman and the aging process, about the face they see in the mirror and how it changes throughout the years. What a fantastic and thought provoking self-reflection. Shhh, I may or may not have cried again.

My favorite part of the night came near the end of the evening when the lights went down, she stood tall and belted out "Something in Red".You could have heard a pin drop, until she finished the last note and all you could see was everyone on their feet and applause so loud it shook the room. What a perfect performance, yes, perfect. Shhh, I may or may not have gotten a little teary again.

Her set list was hand chosen from songs that say something, that mean something to her and that she hopes would mean something to her audience. Judging from the multiple standing ovations and the reactions around the room, I say she hit the perfect sweet spot with most everyone in the sold out crowd.

I am so glad I chose to go to this show, it gave me a whole new appreciation for the artists we no longer hear on the radio but yet are still giving us wonderful music every day. We take them for granted and sadly we even tend to put them on the back burner and forget about them because the new kids have come along, filling the airwaves with their new styles. Our music was once a new style too  and it's a style I respect and have a deep love for. I hope to see that kind of music make a new emergence, to remind us of what country music means, where it comes from and that is has substance and heart. Thank you Lorrie Morgan for reminding me of that and for taking my heart back to it's true first love, real country  music.

PRESS RELEASE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 6, 2014) – In life and in art, the glamorous and gifted Lorrie Morgan is enjoying a renewed resurgence of popularity.  Morgan continues to make new music, tour North America, and this weekend will celebrate her 30th Anniversary as a member of the Grand Ole Opry!!!  On June 9, 1984, Morgan was inducted as a member into the invitation only institution.

“You can’t imagine how it felt the night I became a member of the Opry,” says Lorrie Morgan. “The first time I could really call this place home. I couldn't stop shaking or trembling or crying.”

That Saturday night, just 30 years ago, might have been Lorrie’s first night as an official member, but it certainly wasn’t her first night at the Grand Ole Opry. Lorrie grew up backstage at the Opry, the daughter of Country Music Hall of Famer George Morgan, a 26-year member known everywhere for his smash 1949 hit “Candy Kisses.”

Born in 1959, Lorrie made her Opry stage debut early, introduced at the Ryman Auditorium by her proud father. “My little 13-year-old knees were absolutely knocking,” she recalls. “But Dad was standing there right beside me with big tears in his eyes, and those people gave me a standing ovation. I thought, ‘This is what I’m doing the rest of my life.’”

“This was a dream of my dad’s long before it was my dream,” Lorrie says. “I have all of this because of Dad.  We’re very blessed to be a musical family here at the Grand Ole Opry.  What more could you ask for?”

George Morgan died when Lorrie was 16, but she still carries in her heart two pieces of advice he left her: “Never say, ‘I can’t,’” and “Always remember your manners.”

Morgan’s vocal style, combining country sincerity and pop sophistication, really took off in 1989 with the emotion-filled hit “Dear Me.” She won a CMA Award in 1990 for her work with her late husband, Keith Whitley, the great country traditionalist who had died the year before. Her three subsequent albums — Leave the Light On, Something in Red, and Watch Me — all sold more than a million copies.

She has released hit after hit in a distinctive style steeped in passion and believability — “I Guess You Had to Be There,” “What Part of No,” “Except for Monday,” “Something in Red,” “I Didn't Know My Own Strength,” “Half Enough,” and others.

Throughout her career, Morgan says, she has thought of the Opry as home.

“The Opry gave me my start in country music,” she says. “It’s a place we all need to go from time to time to remember why we're here and what gave us the opportunity to be here.”

PAM TILLIS & LORRIE MORGAN "GO PINK" WITH NEW SINGLE "I AM A WOMAN"

Girl Power Duo Releases “I Am A Woman” As Appropriate Fit In Alignment With National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (October 17, 2013)—Red River Entertainment recording artists, Grits & Glamour (Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan), the royal women of country, celebrate the revealing and poignant sophomoric single release “I Am A Woman” (ON RADIO NOW) from their critically acclaimed collaborative album entitled DOS DIVAS.

Co-written by Grits & Glamour band member, and close personal friend, Mary Sue England alongside hit writer Thom Shephard, “I Am A Woman” is a true-to-life heart song that paints the perfect picture of the “every day woman” as an anthem of strength, endurance and resilience for women of all ages and all walks of life.

I'M A WARM HEART WITH COLD FEET

I'M A MONA LISA SMILE / AND THE TEARS YOU'LL NEVER SEE

I'M A PROMISE AND I'M A PRAYER

I AM FAITH / I AM HOPE / I'M THIS PINK RIBBON THAT I WEAR

AND I AM BRAVE / NO MATTER WHAT YOU TAKE AWAY

I AM A WOMAN

In early celebration, and in sporting style, the Tennessee Titans welcomed Grits & Glamour to perform “I Am A Woman” in recognition of breast cancer awareness month (on Sunday, October 6, 2013//Titans vs. the Chiefs) where the Titans cheerleaders invited cancer survivors onto the football field during the pregame presentation. Continuing their mutual initiative to share their heartfelt support of women who have become tragically touched by the unforgiving hands of breast cancer, the Opry stars will perform at the 5th Annual Opry Goes Pink Show as The Grand Ole Opry® joins Women Rock For The Cure™ in the fight against breast cancer on Tuesday evening, October 22. In the company of LeAnn Rimes, Amy Grant, Mandisa (who is making her Opry debut) and others, Morgan and Tillis will appear before the signature barn backdrop which will be spotlighted pink for the night in recognition of survivors and fighters of cancer.

“We have no words to express our personal honor and privilege to be included in this event—to step onto the historic Opry stage on such an important occasion to perform such a powerful song—empowering women (daughters, mothers and grandmothers),” says Pam Tillis. “When we heard ‘I Am A Woman’ for the first time, Pam and I knew it had to be on our new album; it’s one of those songs that captures life moments and the unspoken sentiment and emotions shared by every female—simple or complex. We are pleased to be part of this extraordinary affair, to speak on behalf of others who cannot and add volume to those who can,” adds Lorrie Morgan.

The vibrant Lorrie Morgan and Pam Tillis are trendsetters with identifiable voices of their own in the country music industry both as solo and duo recording artists. Award-winning entertainers, the ladies have 28 top ten hits between them, have enjoyed more than 18 million records sold worldwide and scored 12 number one hits combined. Road warriors who exude compelling strength and determination, Tillis and Morgan continue to support the momentum of their debut Grits & Glamour album DOS DIVAS (released July 23, 2013/distributed by Sony Red) as part of their Grits & Glamour Tour canvassing the country from east to west and are committed to carry on their own independent breast cancer awareness campaign in conjunction with the new single release.

The single peaked at No. 13 on the country singles charts.)
